Comedy Actors Turn into Dramatic Characters

There are a lot of Hollywood actors who try themselves into a bit of different scenarios – acting in a serious drama movie. For some movie lovers, it is weird to watch their funny actor go in to a dramatic character just with ease. 

Will Ferrell in “Everything Must Go”

In one of the best Will Ferrell’s role where he plays as an alcoholic named Nick and who lost everything, wife, job, happiness, we can see how genuine as an actor he is. In the film, he must stay around his old house and stay with only his belongings, however he is forced to sell everything in a yard sale. With sad moments like that, Nick still hangs on. Will Ferrell’s charm as a comedy man boosts his role in the film to let viewers see who he really is.

Steve Carell in “Foxcatcher”

The actor has played already in many notable films such as “Crazy Stupid Love”, The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Little Miss Sunshine” and they all had something in common – they had comedy and drama mixed together. It is a no brainer that Steve Carell is currently one of the best comedy actors, although his role in “Foxcatcher” touched a lot of people in a weird and deliberate way. He starred as a rich wrestling fanatic John du Pont. While this story is based on true facts, Steve Carell plays his role perfectly, summing up he can be as a chameleon in movie films – he turned into a really psychical character. In the film, John du Pont calls two wrestling brothers into his team and sadly, the decision comes with horrific consequences – their relationship points out to murder. 

Whoopi Goldberg in “The Color Purple”

Her big roles in films “Sister Act” and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” (American spy comedy film) reveals how she was a person of true talents. In her acting career she also worked as a producer in theatres and appeared on Broadway stages. In 1985, the movie “The Color Purple” was really a standout for the actress and it made it into multiple nominations. It has been the huge leap for her career. She played a woman named Celie who was growing up in the early 20th century and received atrocious abuse from her husband, yet after all those years she looks for redemption.

Seth Rogen in “Steve Jobs”

Seth Rogen plays “Apple” co-founder Steve Wozniak and his need for some acknowledge for his work. The movie is based on a true story of how the “Apple” technology biggest industry was introduced to the public. Steve Jobs was only concern was his own work and the product’s issues, but he is too short on politeness to show some respect for Wozniak team’s work. Seth Rogen perfectly embodies into the character with his looks but most importantly, with his amazing acting skills and caring personality. After the film was shown, even the real Steve Wozniak acknowledged Seth Rogen’s role and praised it by saying it had been an excellent work of his.
